I've been on the radio for the past 20 years.  I've been up and down the dial here in Sullivan and Orange Counties, and I've also spent time in Hartford, Las Vegas and San Diego.  When I'm not on the air, I can be found in front of the computer reading up on stories about the music and performers that I love.   I'm also a TV addict, and especially like watching live concerts & award shows whenever I can (thanks to the inventor of TiVO). I'm thrilled to be part of VOS FM... because we really DO play the Greatest Hits of All Time, I'd also love to hear from you.. so drop me a line!!!!

Sunday Night

Sunday Nights

If anyone could qualify as a local legend, John Manzi certainly fits the bill....  Not only is he an active member of the community and a relentless supporter of many organizations, John has helmed the nationally known "Bop Shop" (the area's longest running radio program) for nearly 30 years.  He also is a longtime host of the Annual WSUL/WVOS Heart-A-Thon.  And if that weren't enough, he is enshrined in the Harness Racing Hall of Fame as well as the longtime Director of Publicity and Public Relations for Monticello Raceway.

About John:
The Bop Shop is my beloved hobby and all of the music played (much of it no longer available) is from my personal collection.

  • Favorite BOP SHOP artists: Cadillacs; The Earls; Drifters; Velours; Strangers; 5 Satins; El Dorados; Spaniels; Ravens; Flamingos; Frankie Lymon & Teenagers; Dion & the Belmonts.

  • Likes: gourmet food; red wine; olive oil; kind people

  • Dislikes: cigarette smoke, arrogant people, fast food

  • Best thing to do in the Catskills: listen to the Bop Shop on VOS FM on Sunday nights

  • Greatest concert experience: Woodstock-1969 in Bethel, NY

  • Best part about living in Sullivan County: the people, the food, the outdoors and the racetrack
